ADMISSION NOTICE

  Prescribed forms and other information for B.F.A for the session 2018-2019 will be available through college website from 10th May-2018 to 10th June-2018 and Forms for M.F.A course from 22nd May-2018 to 20th June-2018. One may download and upload the forms through website www.gcac.edu.in.   Eligibility For B.F.A
  1. Candidate must have passed Higher Secondary Examination or equivalent.
  2. Age as on 01.07.2018: 23 years or below.
Documents required at the time of uploading the application form:
  1. Mark sheet of Higher Secondary examination or equivalent.
  2.  Admit Card of Madhyamik examination or equivalent.
  3. SC/ ST/OBC certificate if any.
Eligibility For M.F.A Candidate must have passed B.F.A or B.V.A with Honours from a recognized University/Institute with a minimum average of 55% marks. Documents required at the time of uploading the application form:
  1. Mark sheet of B.F.A/B.V.A   examination.
  2. Admit Card of   Madhyamik/ Secondary examination or equivalent examination.
  3. SC/ST /OBC certificate, if any.

  Criteria for admission to B.F.A:
  1. Must have qualify 10+2 course from any recognized Board/Council.
  2. Age should be 23 Years or below as on 1st July 2018.
  3. An applicant from other countries must have an equivalent certificate from the University of Calcutta (Not necessary forApplication procedure but should be produced at the time of VIVA-VOCE).
  4. A Candidate can apply for single-stream only and may not be changed to any other stream under any circumstances.
  Criteria for admission to M.F.A:
  1. Must have qualify B.F.A/B.V.A Course from any UGC recognized university with Securing 55%marks.
  2. Applicants for Print Making may have qualified B.F.A/ B.V.A with the subjects Painting, Painting Indian Style or GraphicDesign/Applied Art apart from print making itself.
  3. Applicants who have passed from other Universities (other than the University of Calcutta OR other Universities of West Bengal) must produce an equivalence certificate from Calcutta University during Viva-voce.
Documents required as Attachment in the scanned format:

  2. Admit Card/ registration Certificate issued from recognized Board / Council (as age Proof).
  3. Caste Certificate (should be issued by competent authority).
  4. Certificate of Person with disabilities (PWD) issued by any competent authority.

Category wise reservation of seats: Reservation of seats will be maintained as per published list by Government including 3% vacant seats against PWD category Within each category (SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B).   COURSE INFORMATION: STRUCTURE AND CONTENT 4 Year Integrated course leading to BFA Degree The course offered here is a four-year integrated course comprising of one year in Foundation and three years in Specialization, leading to a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree course, has been introduced from the session 2003-2004. The two years’ Post Graduate (Semester) curriculum is offered which leads to MFA Degree. The One Year Foundation Course (Part-I) is mainly an orientation course where the students are given a general training in different subjects related to specialized of visual art. The idea is to relate them to the art world both technically and intellectually. The syllabus, therefore, has been planned to nurture their interest and gradually train them to develop their creative faculty. At the degree level, the importance is more on the application. Session begins from June/July. A candidate seeking admission to this college must pass the Higher Secondary Examination (10+2) or equivalent examination from recognized Board/Council. He/she should be 23 years or below on 1st July in the year of admission. No form will be issued to over-aged candidates. Application will have to sit for an Admission Test, comprising of i) Drawing,ii) Composition iii) Aptitude Test and and iv) Viva-voce. The Admission Test (practical) will be conducted from 11am-1pm and again from 2-4pm. The candidates selected for viva-voce are expected to have a basic knowledge of credit earned or accumulated in each and in aggregate also. Choice of the stream to be pursued for specialization (after successful completion of the Foundation Course) must be written clearly in the application by the applicant. Admission of overseas applicants is subject to approval of the University of Calcutta and the Govt. of West Bengal. Subject for specialization once opted for will not be changed. Application forms are usually issued from the College office from almost immediately after the date of publication of the result of H.S. Examination, West Bengal. Admission to master of fine Arts The minimum qualification for admission to the Four semester system of the Master Degree in Fine Art in the specializations- Painting, Painting(Indian Style), Sculpture shall be BFA or equivalent degree (Minimum 55% in BFA or BVA),  in the subjects mentioned above . For Applied Art and Design, the students intending to specialize in Applied Art/Graphic Design, Textile Design, Ceramic Art and Pottery, Design Wood and Leather have to choose their respective subject in BFA or equivalent, for specialization. Students with a BVA / BFA (Minimum 55% in BFA or BVA) in Painting, Painting (Indian Style) , Applied Art/Graphic Design, Print Making can apply for  specialization in Print Making  . The College may decide to hold Practical / Viva – voce / Theory  or Practical , Viva – voce and Theory   test for admitting students to the above course if necessary. Examinations: BFA professional Course There will be four University Examinations at the end of each session as stated below:
  1. At the end of Foundation Course-BFA Part I
  2. At the end of First Year of Specialization- BFA Part II
  3. At the end of second year of Specialization – Part III
  4. At the end of third year of Specialization – Part IV
 
  1. A student will be permitted to sit for the examination at Under-Graduate level as a regular candidate if he or she attends 75% of the total classes in the session.
  2. A student having percentage below 75% but 60% and above, will have to apply for condonation to the vice-chancellor, University of Calcutta, after paying the condonation fee for non-collegiate candidates as per regulation of the University of Calcutta.
  3. Students having percentage below 60% will be declared as discollegiate students and will not be permitted to sit for the examination in that session.
  4. Students failing twice to pass the foundation level will not be permitted to continue in the college. No break of studies will be appreciated in this regard. Also at the Specialization level, students will get two chances in each part without any break of studies.
  5. The minimum qualifying marks is for all examination 40% in the practical papers of the total marks.
MFA EXAMINATION A student will be permitted to sit for the examination in postgraduate level as a regular candidate if he/she attained 75% of the total classes in a session.   A students having percentage  below 75%, but above 55%, will have to apply for condonation to the vice-chancellor, University Calcutta after paying the condonation fee for non-collegiate as per regulation of the university.   Students having percentage below 55% will be declared as discollegiate students.   FEE STRUCTURE Admission Fee-Rs. 75/- BFA Tuition Fee- Rs. 900/- Caution Money- Rs. 20/- Pankha Fee- Rs. 2/-   Admission Fee- Rs. 125/- MFA Tuition Fee- Rs. 1500/- Session Charge- Rs. 100/- Caution Money- Rs. 300/-
